My Story

Emma and I are walking the Camino de Santiago, starting at St. Jean Pied de Port in France on May 22nd and finishing at the tomb of St. James in Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain, some 500-miles and 34 days later.

We have chosen to support SWEDA who are a local Charity that helped us to understand and come to terms with the illness when our daughter, Neve, was diagnosed with Anorexia in 2020. Prior to her diagnosis, she was around 8 stone, dropping to under 5 stone at her lowest point. Thankfully, she is now fit, healthy and enjoying life, something which we feared would never happen when we began this journey. SWEDA helped us to accept that, as parents, we were powerless to help her until Neve accepted she needed help herself. This was so hard to comprehend as you believe that it is your job as a parent to protect your children 'at all costs'.

Update 1: A huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Because of your fantastic generosity we have managed to achieve our original target, so we feel all we can do now is set ourselves another. If you are able, please support us in our challenge and enable us to raise as much funding as possible for SWEDA.

Update 2: As we are just 21 days from the start of our adventure, we need a final push to hit,......and hopefully exceed our target. We are so grateful to all who have donated so far, it means so much to us to help raise money for this fantastic charity. To those who have been thinking of donating, but have just been too busy to do it yet, now is your chance. Please help if you can.
